Matthew 24 INTRO

Brad Gaillard

Before we dive into Matthew 24 itself, I want us to become familiar with the broader biblical context surrounding what is often called the Olivet Discourse—Jesus' longest prophetic sermon recorded in the Gospels.

Matthew 24 is one of the most discussed, debated, and sometimes misunderstood chapters in all of Scripture. Questions about the destruction of Jerusalem, the Temple, the coming of the Son of Man, tribulation, judgment, and the end of the age have led Christians to many different conclusions over the years.

But before we start trying to interpret the chapter, we need to do something we've talked about repeatedly in our hermeneutics episodes: observation comes before interpretation.
