Matthew 26 (Reading with Old Testament Eyes)

Jul 15, 2026    Brad Gaillard

Matthew 26 takes us into the final hours before the crucifixion, where Jesus willingly fulfills the Father’s redemptive plan. In this episode, we follow the Passover meal, the Lord’s Supper, Gethsemane, Judas’ betrayal, Jesus’ trial before Caiaphas, and Peter’s denial. Along the way, we dig into the Old Testament passages Matthew expects us to recognize—especially Zechariah, Isaiah, Exodus, and Daniel—and highlight key hermeneutical principles like fulfillment, narrative contrast, irony, repetition, and reading the New Testament with Old Testament eyes.
